This time in SheVenture is excited to share the story of Noelle Russell an entrepreneur and a pioneer in strategic advisory within AI.
Noelle, what is the story of how you got into entrepreneurship?
My journey into entrepreneurship wasn’t something I planned. It all started with a desire to use technology to make a positive impact. After years of working at tech giants like Amazon Alexa, Microsoft, and IBM, I realized there was a huge gap in how AI was being taught and applied. That insight led me to create the AI Leadership Institute, where I now help businesses and individuals use and scale AI effectively and ethically.
The path to entrepreneurship wasn’t always straightforward for me. A pivotal moment came in 2014 when I joined the Amazon Alexa team. I had no prior experience in AI or natural language processing (NLP), and the learning curve was steep. But that experience taught me the value of adaptability and the importance of continuous learning. Another major turning point came when I made the bold decision to leave my secure corporate role to build something of my own. Taking that risk wasn’t easy, but it led me to create the I ❤️ AI Community. Through this platform, I now mentor and empower others to dive into the world of AI.
Being a woman in tech has brought its own set of challenges. As a Latina, I’ve had to fight against biases and that nagging feeling of not being “techy enough” to lead in a male-dominated field. Over time, though, I’ve learned to trust my instincts, gain confidence, and lean on the supportive community around me. Now, I use my platform to break down barriers for others, showing women that their unique perspectives are invaluable to the tech world.
A simple Advice for Women
For women wanting to become entrepreneurs in tech, my advice is simple: believe in your unique voice, surround yourself with a strong network, start small but smart, keep learning, and stay resilient. I’ve learned that mindset makes all the difference in overcoming challenges. Through my work, I’m advocating for more ethical leadership in technology and hoping to inspire other women to do the same.
Pioneering AI profession
and AI startups:
“ I’m all about challenging the norms and making sure women’s voices are heard, no matter their background.”
What makes a tech startup truly inclusive and supportive of women?
To me, it starts with representation in leadership, having mentorship programs, offering work-life balance, and fostering a community where women can support one another. I’m all about challenging the norms and making sure women’s voices are heard, no matter their background.
Perhaps my story is proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible. I’m committed to leading with purpose, empowering others to harness AI responsibly, inclusively, and impactfully.
