About Øystein
Øystein is a scientist with a passion for using machine learning to solve real world challenges. His master’s is in Environmental Physics and Renewables and his PhD in Biostatistics. Øystein works both as a Professor at University of Oslo and as a Senior Data Scientist in Intellectual Labs. Before UiO and IL, Øystein worked for several years in Insurance industry and energy sectors with complex data analytics projects. He is a true multi disciplinary scientist and inventor with data.
Øystein is junior world champion in orienteering, and doesn’t give up until the map matches the terrain.
His expertise in statistical modelling of complex patterns, whether they be image and video processing, thousands of time-series, molecular biology or stochastic methods for connecting unstructured data to new insights, is something our ventures will be benefiting greatly from.
Øystein is also an inspiring lecturer, course leader and educational team player who lifts others in the team.
